Statens Museum for Kunst

The museum has more than 8,000 paintings and sculptures spanning wide both geographically and in time. The museums main force is the Danish collection. The Danish Golden Age is generously represented, as is the collection of modern Danis art, including the works of both Bjørn Nørgård and Per Kirkeby. When the museum was renovated in 1998 the cafe got freshened up as well and the new buildings contains a museum for children and the X- Room with contemporary art. Younger Danish and international artists create the projects on display in the X- Room. The museum is situated in walking distance from Østerport Station.
