The Mermaid Waits on the Harbor of Copenhagen

The Little Mermaid, a small and unassuming statue that sits on a rock overlooking Copenhagen Harbor, is one of the most popular attractions of the city.  The statue was created in homage to the mermaid immortalized by the Hans Christian Andersen.

Also on the harbor front of Copenhagen is the Gefion Fountain.  The fountain is the largest monument in the city and it depicts the Norse goddess Gefyon driving a pack of animals.  Tourists often come here to drop coins and make wishes.
